[ecrea] CFP: Nordmedia 2013 Media Literacy and Media Education Division
Tue Dec 11 19:48:21 GMT 2012
NORDMEDIA 2013, Oslo
Media Literacy and Media Education Division
In the new digital age, media literacy and media education are widely
incorporated into communication and education policies both in the EU
and on the national level in many European and Nordic countries. Media
environment are changing rapidly and researchers are trying to describe
the new culture with different kinds of buzz-words like “participatory
culture”, “re-mixing culture”, “convergence culture”, “community of
practice” etc.
In this division, we ask what challenges do digital environments, new
risks and opportunities in online life and multimodal and creative media
production bring to media education and teaching and learning in
informal and formal settings? Are we encountering crucial generational,
cultural and social gaps between “digital natives” and “digital
emigrants”? Division welcomes papers that concern media education and
media literacy in different age groups, from children to adults, and
from different social, educational, gender, ethnic and aesthetic
perspectives.
