CALL FOR BOOKS TO REVIEW/BOOK REVIEWERS
Journal of British Cinema and Television
Special Issue: ‘Women at Work in the British Film & Television Industries’
Many thanks again for those who responded to our earlier call for
books/reviewers for the forthcoming special issue of the Journal of
British Cinema and Television on the topic of ‘Women at Work in the Film
and Television Industries’ (to be published in July 2013). There are
still the following opportunities for colleagues to contribute reviews
to the edition:
1. We are looking for a reviewer for Julia Knight and Peter Thomas’
(2012) Reaching Audiences: Distribution and Promotion of Alternative
Moving Image. Intellect.
http://www.intellectbooks.co.uk/books/view-Book,id=4748/
2. We are also looking for reviews of what contributors perceive as
'classic' texts. These may be older texts but which are significant in
terms of the contributions they have made to the research/teaching of
women's work in film and TV production at the level of methodology, for
instance, or critical approach or critical neglect. We would prefer
such ‘classic’ texts to centre upon the British context but would
consider books that are published about women in relation to other
national contexts of film/TV production, if reviewers can identify ways
in which it is useful/relevant to researching women's work in the
British context.
If anyone is interested in reviewing Knight and Thomas' book or would
like to suggest a ‘classic’ text to review please let me know by Friday
19th October 2012. We welcome suggestions for reviews of single
'classic' texts or which combine the review of two 'classic' texts on a
related topic. Full copy would be needed by 1st March 2013 (800-1000
words for reviews of single books and 1500 for a combined review of two
books).
Please get in touch if you would like further information.
Best wishes
Vicky
