Dear colleagues,

We have great pleasure in inviting you to a one-day conference titled ‘The Messages of Hizbullah: Communication Forms and Political Contexts’,* *hosted by the Centre for Media and Film Studies at SOAS, University of London, on Friday 25th May 2012. The conference is generously sponsored by the Leverhulme Trust and is supported by the London Middle East Institute at SOAS.
* *
The conference will explore the communication strategies of Hizbullah in addition to its messages and epistemology from a variety of perspectives and disciplines. It brings together eminent scholars working on aspects related to the evolution of Hizbullah, its communication strategies and cultural practices in the formal and informal spheres. The conference will provide an opportunity for question-and-answer sessions with the speakers, as well as a more general discussion on aspects of Islamist politics and mobilization that are pertinent in the contemporary political and social climate in the Middle East.
We would be delighted if you were able to join us.
A draft schedule of the proceedings is attached.
Best regards,
