Mon Nov 02 23:52:56 GMT 2015
Call For Papers: Hermes – Journal of Language and Communication in
Business, Department of Business Communication, Aarhus University, Denmark
Special Section – November 2016:
*The implications of social and mobile media for the ways in which
corporate professionals communicate around their work*
Guest editors: Assistant Professor Annette Agerdal-Hjermind, and
Associate Professor Constance Kampf, Center for Corporate Communication,
Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University Denmark
Social and mobile media use by corporate professionals in a wide range
of areas is increasing. The implications of using these open platforms
for communicating around work are still relatively unexplored,
considering their expanding use for different job functions across
organizations. Social and mobile media represent a two-edged sword that
offers both obvious possibilities and challenges. Possibilities include
knowledge sharing across time, place and structures/traditional
organizational boundaries; two-way conversations and dialogue; and
possibilities of increasing networks. Whereas challenges at the
organizational-, employee- and individual level include high levels of
openness, visibility, and many-to-many communication patterns inherent
in these platforms.
In this thematic section we wish to focus on the implications of social
and mobile media for the ways in which corporate professionals
communicate around their work.
We are interested in papers that address, but are not limited to, issues
such as:
·How do social and mobile media affect
oWork/life balance?
oHow work is
§accomplished (process)?
§defined (content)?
§distributed (workflows)?
·Privacy issues regarding networking with:
oColleagues
oCustomers
oOther professionals in the same field
·Future visions of long-term impacts for how organizational structures
and functions will be affected by social & mobile media or other
emerging technologies.
