Call for Applications for the International Summer School of Political
Communication**and Electoral Behavior
Theme: Changing Media Environments, Changing Democracies
Period: 18-23 July 2016

The Department of Social and Political Sciences of the University of
Milan (Italy) and the Political Communication Division of the
International Communication Association (ICA) will together organize the
5^th edition of the International Summer School of Political
Communication**and Electoral Behavior*.*

The School addresses theoretical and empirical questions at the
intersection of political communication, political science, and
political sociology, with a special focus on the relationship between
political communication, media, political participation and democracy.

The lecturers are internationally renowned academics. Confirmed speakers
include Homero Gil de Zuñiga, Patricia Moy, Rüdiger Schmitt-Beck, Jesper
Strömbäck, Dhavan Shah, Gianpietro Mazzoleni, Mauro Barisione, Yariv
Tsfati, Stefano Iacus, Catherine deVries, Katharina Kleinen-von
Königslöw andMarina Costa Lobo.

Participants of the previous editions came from around the world: USA,
Canada, Colombia, Brazil, UK, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Russia,
Poland, Germany, The Netherlands, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the
Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia, Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, among
others.

Building on previous summer schools, this year’s Summer School will
present another opportunity for 30 PhD candidates and early career
academics in Communication, Sociology, Psychology and Political Science
to attend an intensive, 6 day-long Program that consists of lectures
daily and paper presentations and discussions.Workshops on Big Data
research methods and on writing for scholarly journals will be offered
during the week.

Candidates interested in participating in the Summer School should
submit a 3-page research proposal or an extended abstract of a research
paper on issues related to the main theme of the Summer
School.Submissions should include the name, email address, institutional
affiliation and a brief bio (max. 200 words) mentioning main research
interests and ongoing projects, a supporting recommendation letter.

A Certificate and 6 ECTS will be awarded to each participant
successfully completing the School.

29 February 2016: Acceptance announcement

15 April 2016: Registration deadline

Course fee:  €500 (includes VAT, accommodation and lunches).   A limited
number of travel grants will also be made available.
