Wed Nov 04 11:56:11 GMT 2015

Announcement and call for papers for PhD seminar on 12 March 2016 in
Accra, Ghana

In connection with the International Telecommunications Society
conference in Accra on 10-11 March 2016, a PhD seminar is held on 12
March 2016 in Accra, Ghana.

**

*Meet the Experts!*
The International Telecommunications Society (ITS) is an association of
academics and other professionals in the information, communications,
and technology sectors. Its network of researchers comprises outstanding
scholars in the field of telecommunications research that are well known
from the literature (see www.itsworld.org <http://www.itsworld.org>).

In order to share the valuable expertise represented by specialised
academics and industry experts with younger researchers, ITS organises a
PhD seminar in Accra.

Not more than 10 students will be selected from the responses to this
call. In accordance with the topics presented by the winning candidates,
experts from the ITS network will be chosen to discuss new ideas brought
forward by PhD students. The focus will be on the discussion of ideas
presented by the participants, and less on the mere presentation of
papers. Papers presented at the seminar will be advised for refereed
submission in Telecommunications Policy.

Please note that in order to be most effective, the discussion will be
based on full (draft) *papers*. Only in exceptional cases will extended
abstracts (min. 8 pages) be accepted for submission.

The seminar will be linked with the First African ITS Conference to be
held before the PhD seminar. Access to this conference will be free of
charge for the participants of the PhD seminar (see www.africa-its.org
<http://www.africa-its.org>).

Successful participants will receive a certificate from the
International Telecommunications Society. The Ph.D. seminar is eligible
for 3 ECTS credits, after approval of a revised paper, and successful
participation in the seminar.

Participation is free of charge. PhD students whose paper has been
selected for presentation will receive a subsidy of 500 USD to cover
accommodation and travel expenses.

Papers presented at the PhD seminar can also be submitted to the ITS
conference on 10-11 March.

Papers can be submitted for presentation and discussion related to the
