[ecrea] CFP: Autoethnography

Sat Mar 07 03:59:15 GMT 2015

Autoethnography: Learning from Stories | 13 May 2015 | University of Brighton

Confirmed speakers include: Denise Turner (Sussex), Nicola Streeten (Sussex), Mike Hayler (Brighton), and Jess Moriarty (Brighton)

There needs to be a greater openness to alternative paradigms critiques…
There needs to be a decline in conflict between alternative paradigms proponents… Paths for fruitful dialogue between and across paradigms need to be explored. This means that there needs to be a greater openness to and celebration of the proliferation,
intermingling, and confluence of paradigms and interpretive frameworks.
(Denzin 2010)

An afternoon of discussions, presentations and events around the opportunities and challenges of contemporary autoethnography. There will be guest presentations from established researchers in the field who will present recent work and facilitate discussion on what autoethnography is and ways in which it might evolve.

We invite short presentations and panel discussions from new and established researchers involved in emerging autoethnographic work to provide an insight into their practice. The event will appeal to novice and experienced staff and students wanting to explore new, progressive and boundary pushing ways to conduct research; supervisors of qualitative inquiry; and all those seeking a methodology that values and legitimizes personal
experience and creative and evocative academic work.

DEADLINE: If you wish to present a 15 minute paper or take part in a panel discussion at this event, please submit a 300 words abstract to Jess Moriarty (jsm /at/ brighton.ac.uk) by 14 March 2015.
