**REDESIGNING OR REDEFINING PRIVACY**
The journal WESTMINSTER PAPERS IN COMMUNICATION AND CULTURE is pleased
to announce the publication of a special issue on ‘Redesigning or
Redefining Privacy?’ considering whether, in respect of surveillance,
greater public awareness and corporate transparency are possible. Can
privacy be safeguarded for citizens when ‘nothing to hide, nothing to
fear’ arguments appear to hold sway ? The issue includes an interview
with Mark Andrejevic concerning discourses around pre-emption and
prevention and data holders’s accountability with other articles
addressing issues that include legal frameworks, encryption practices,
definitions of the surveilled subject and the longer history of scrutiny
of the ‘surveillance society’.
WPCC is an open access journal and all content is available to read free
