MASS MEDIA DISCOURSE TODAY
in focus of theory, social practice and education
(Belgorod, Belgorod National Research University, October 3-5, 2018)
Funded by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research
The conference aims at exchanging and consolidating the
cross-disciplinary experience of mass media discourse research by
humanities and social scientists and discussing the views on the actual
issues of mutual impact of mass media discourse and society, culture and
education.
General topics to discuss at the conference are:
• Mass media and contemporary issues of the theory of discourse
• Mass media in the humanities discourses
• Social dimensions of mass media discourse
• Mediatization of political events and activities
• Visual turn in mass media and challenges for discourse analysis
• New media and transformation of discursive practices
• Axiology of mass media discourse: critical discourse analysis
• Mass media discourse and artistic texts
• Language of mass media today
• Concepts of modern media culture
• Intertext in mass media discourse
• Media education in terms of mass media transformations
The organizational committee invites the participants to initiate master
classes, round tables or panel discussions in terms of the conference’s
topics. We reserve the right to include the initiatives in the
conference program. We welcome your proposals to the e-mails of the

The conference is to include the International seminar “Contemporary
issues of media linguistics and media criticism” (October 4-5, 2018).
Working languages: Russian, English.
If you intend to take part in the conference, please send us the
application and the paper until September 11, 2018 to (kafcomm /at/ gmail.com)

The conference papers will be published in the Collection of papers
(indexed by Russian Science Citation Index) and in the e-journal
“Contemporary discourse analysis” (discourseanalysis.org, indexed by
Russian Index of Scientific Citation). The committee is planning to
publish the most prominent papers in the journal “Scientific bulletin of
Belgorod University: Humanities”. All publications and participation in
the conference are free.
Please follow the typescript requirements:
The paper is to be up to 10 pages, А4, Times New Roman, pt. 14, 1.5
int., all margins are 2 cm.
The first line is for name and surname of the author(s), the second line
is for author’s affiliation, city and country. The third line is for the
paper title. Please provide the paper with resume / annotation (up to
100 words) and key words (5-8 words).
Example of citations and references list:

Please make the reference list in alphabetical order. In case you
prepare the paper in English and you refer to non-English sources, the
references are presented in both original language and translation to
English as follows:
