“Setting Best Practices for Employee Engagement”



The Middle East Public Relations Association and Zayed University 
invites practitioners and academics acrossdisciplines and from all 
professional occupations to submit papers, presentations, and panel 
proposals at the Fourth Middle East Public Relations Symposium on March 
19 & 20, 2014, at Knowledge Village Conference Center. Proposal 
submissions of case studies, position papers, white papers, panels, and 
scholarly papers should revolve around the conference theme, “Setting 
best practices for employee engagement.”



This symposium will showcase the latest research and best practices 
about public relations in the Middle East. The conference is designed to 
bring together practitioners and academic around a common theme and 
issues, such as measurement of employee engagement, CSR, internal 
communication, social media, etc.



Dr. Tom Watson will be the keynote speaker. Dr. Tom Watson is Professor 
of Public Relations in the Media School at Bournemouth University, UK. 
Professor Watson is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Public 
Relations and the PRCA in the UK. He is chair of the annual 
International History of Public Relations Conference held at Bournemouth 
University. He served for several years on the Institute for Public 
Relations Commission on Public Relations Measurement and Evaluation. His 
most recent research focuses on the relationship between employees and 
the successful development of CSR communication.



Paper and panel submissions should be 500 words or less. All proposals 
should be submitted by email as PDF files and must include author 
contact information, academic or organization affiliation(s) and 
title(s). All proposals are due by midnight December 16, 2013, and 
should be emailed to (gaelle.duthler /at/ zu.ac.ae).



Authors of all submitted completed papers will be considered for “Best 
Paper Award”. The papers will be judged by a panel, with the prize of 
publication, subject to satisfactory review, in a future edition of 
either the Journal of Communication Management or its sister journal, 
Corporate Communication: An International Journal.
