CALL FOR PAPERS
ADAPTING HISTORICAL NARRATIVES: A ONE-DAY CONFERENCE

Tuesday 28 February 2012
Centre for Adaptations/Faculty of Art, Design&  Humanities
De Montfort University, Leicester, UK

We invite papers across diverse interpretations of the topic,
media, genres of 'historical narrative' (fictional, fact-based, hybrid),
represented periods, and histories (from royal to political to
popular-cultural). NB: We are particularly keen to receive proposals
in the following areas:

* Relationships between new media, convergence culture, period
films/dramas, historical narratives and adaptation, including Web 2.0,
case studies in cross-media promotion, convergence relationships with
online archives, and ?new? remediation strategies in the
heritage/museum/cultural sectors
* Historical narratives, period genres, reception, audiences and fandom
* Retro nostalgia
* Contemporary history on screen
* Developments in heritage and post-heritage cinema(s)
* Historical documentaries and docudramas
* Biopics
* Constructions of national histories and historical nationalisms

Proposals of no more than 200 words, accompanied by contact details,
institutional affiliation and a brief biographical note should be sent to:
