Contemporary Folk Horror in Film and Media Conference

Taking place virtually online on 17th and 18th December 2021. We will be hosting a conference that will talk about all aspects of modern folk horror in film and media, including the digital age, TV, film and media.

Keynote Speakers

*_Catherine Spooner_*- Professor of Literature and Culture at Lancaster University. She has published widely on Gothic in Victorian and contemporary literature, film and popular culture, with a particular emphasis on fashion.

*_Karl Spracklen_*- Karl Spracklen is a Professor of Sociology of Leisure and Culture based in the Leeds School of Social Sciences, and the Director of Research for Social Policy.

*_Allan Bryce_*- Dark Side Magazine editor and publisher.

LBU PhD researcher and lead organiser *Melody Blackmore* has specific research interests in Folk Horror and its cultural reflections on screen, especially the use of visual landscapes as a space for mental processes.

This exciting event is also co-hosted by *Leeds School of Arts *and the *School of Cultural Studies and Humanities *at Leeds Beckett University.

Leeds School of Arts is united by a common goal: to encourage individuality, to inspire creativity, and to create impact. There are over 3000 students across over 40 courses in subjects ranging from Architecture and Landscape, Creative Technology, Art and Design, through to Fashion, Film, Music and Performing Arts.
