[Commlist] Call for papers: Local and Community Media Network, MeCCSA 2022

Tue Nov 16 20:46:38 GMT 2021

The Local and Community Media Network is inviting contributions focussing on lLocal and community media for inclusion in the annual conference of MeCCSA.

The theme of this year’s conference, to be held September 7-9, 2022, is “Silenced Voices” and the network committee is calling for papers which focus on issues of diversity in the local and community media. This may include issues around who is producing local and community media and audiences for it, but also diversity relating to modes of production, delivery and funding. We hope to be able to constitute at least one panel for the conference.

The main conference aims to attract researchers interested in minority, excluded, alternative or powerless communities, and their ability to influence public discourses. A wide range of perspectives are encouraged, including those which engage with practised-based interventions in this area as well as theoretical perspectives. PGRs and ECRS are encouraged to submit. Please note that MeCCSA will be awarding three bursaries for PGRs, unwaged and sessional scholars which will waive conference fee as well as provide up to £200 for travel and accommodation. Applications will be invited following confirmations of acceptance of proposals in March. Please send an abstract of up to 200 words, including your name and contact details and five key words, to be submitted by December 22. You will be informed of acceptance before the main conference deadline of January 17 to enable you to submit individually should you so wish.

All abstracts should be sent to (r.matthews /at/ coventry.ac.uk).
