Call for Abstracts:Workshop on the Ethical, Legal and Social Issues of Robots in Therapy and Education

Held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in Barcelona (from 9.00 am-1.00pm)

/What is it about?/

This 4-hour workshop at the 2016 New Friends Conference <http://www.newfriends2016.org/> addresses the ethical, legal and social (ELS) implications of robots in therapy and education in a constructive and proactive manner. It takes up important ELS challenges that come with the introduction of robots in therapy and education. More specifically, it deals with human dignity, privacy and liability aspects. These overarching ELS issues – dignity, privacy, liability – shall be discussed in an open workshop format, laying the focus on solutions and leaving sufficient time for discussion. Researchers from all disciplines as well as practitioners are encouraged to submit abstracts (see below). We especially encourage media and communication scholars to participate and share their conceptual and empirical knowledge on this new topic. The workshop will be arranged in an interdisciplinary manner to allow participants from different backgrounds to explore issues directly connected to their own areas of expertise while also providing the opportunity to engage with professionals from different disciplines.

Your contribution must touch upon one of these four topics. Using concrete examples is welcomed, yet we are open for conceptual and theoretical pieces.
