Tue Mar 08 08:01:16 GMT 2016
We are finalising the panel "Urban bodies in motion" for the AIBR 2016
(http://2016.aibr.org/en/) and are looking for a couple more paper
proposals for the panel.
We are looking for paper proposals according to the specs in the AIBR
website to be sent to*(kberrens /at/ uoc.edu) <mailto:(kberrens /at/ uoc.edu)>* *no
later than the 24th of March 2016.*
Urban bodies in motion
In this panel, we will reflect on how notions of identity are developed
in co-creation with emplacements in an urban setting. We will conduct an
evaluation of the ways bodies are shaped and tuned into identities in
motion within the impermanent context of ever-changing cities.
The urban environment can be an expanding platform to explore bodies.
Not only in terms of the their corporeality but also in terms of our
awareness of the ways in which we become emplaced through navigating
space. How does space shape, encourage or hinder our corporeality? What
are the ways in which we can negotiate ourselves within the boundaries
set by the city?
Through examining the possibilities and limits that bodies may encounter
in the urban environment, we want to spark the dialogue around the
boundaries and difficulties that urban living may present to movement
and bodies and its intersections with identity formation.
This panel departs from an interdisciplinary perspective to discuss the
relations between bodies, motion/movement and the city in order to
question identity. It invites papers that propose a fresh outlook into
core questions around the limits and evolutions of movement in the
crossroads with the city. It welcomes methodological contributions to
the field in the research of urban movement as well as theoretical and
empirical research pieces so as to critically illustrate the discourse
around the concept of identity.
