International Workshop

AUDIOVISUAL DIVERSITY ON THE INTERNET. ECONOMICS AND POLICY
November 3-4, 2016

* CALL FOR PAPERS *

The call for submitting papers to the international workshop Audiovisual
diversity on the Internet: economics and policy, that will be held on
3-4 November 2016 at the Faculty of Humanities, Communication and
Documentation of Carlos III University of Madrid, is now open. This
event is part of the activities that are being developed by the research
project ‘Diversity of the audiovisual industry in the digital era’,
which is particularly interested not only in powerful intermediaries who
have a decisive role in digital networks but also in small and medium
independent agents (creators, producers, distributors). It also examines
the implementation of the ‘Convention on the Protection and Promotion of
the Diversity of Cultural Expressions’ adopted by the UNESCO ten years ago.

The Scientific Committee of the workshop will select six proposals.
Abstracts should be 400-500 words in length and should deal with topics
such as:

- Diversity in the digital audiovisual industries: cinema, radio,
television, music and / or video games.
- Mapping the agents of the audiovisual industry on the Internet as well
as their practices.
- Public policies, audiovisual industries and cultural diversity.
- Intellectual property rights and copyright, and audiovisual diversity.
- Measurement and statistics for diversity: indicators in the digital
context.
- The role of civil society in promoting audiovisual diversity on line.
- International cooperation networks and diversity in the audiovisual field.
- The implementation and adaptation of the ‘Convention on the Protection
and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions’ (UNESCO, 2005)
to the digital era.

Based on selected papers, two panel discussions will be arranged to be
held in the morning of 4th November. The authors will have 20 minutes
for their presentations. Previously -being 20th October 2016 the
deadline- successful applicants must send their final unpublished and
original contributions. Papers should be between 6,000 – 8,000 words in
length.

(*) The steering committee of the seminar is taking steps so that the
papers presented can be published in a peer review scientific journal.

LA DIVERSIDAD AUDIOVISUAL EN INTERNET: ECONOMÍA Y POLÍTICAS

* LLAMADA DE TRABAJOS *

Se abre la convocatoria para presentar trabajos que formarán parte del
seminario internacional La diversidad audiovisual en internet: economía
y políticas que tendrá lugar los días 3 y 4 de noviembre de 2016 en la
Facultad de Humanidades, Comunicación y Documentación, de la Universidad
Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). El evento se enmarca en las actividades que
desarrolla el proyecto “Diversidad de la industria audiovisual en la era
digital”, el cual se interesa especialmente tanto por los poderosos
intermediarios que tienen un papel decisivo en las redes digitales como
por los pequeños y medianos agentes independientes (creadores,
productores, distribuidores). Asimismo, estudia el alcance de la
implementación de la Convención sobre la protección y promoción de la
diversidad de las expresiones culturales de la UNESCO a diez años de la
aprobación.

El Comité científico del evento seleccionará un total de seis
propuestas, las cuales deberán tener una extensión de entre 400 y 500
palabras (máximo) y encuadrarse en las siguientes temáticas:

- La diversidad en el audiovisual digital: cine, radio, televisión,
música y/o videojuegos.
- Mapear los agentes de la industria audiovisual en internet y las
prácticas que contribuyen con su diversidad.
- Políticas públicas, industria audiovisual y diversidad cultural.
- Derechos de autor, copyright y diversidad en el audiovisual.
- Medición y estadísticas para la diversidad: indicadores en el contexto
digital.
- El rol de la sociedad civil en el fomento de la diversidad audiovisual
en internet.
- la cooperación internacional en las redes en materia audiovisual.
- Implementación y adaptación a la era digital de la Convención sobre la
protección y promoción de la diversidad de las expresiones culturales
(UNESCO, 2005).

En base a las propuestas seleccionadas se confeccionarán dos mesas que
se celebrarán el día 4 de noviembre en horario matutino. Los/as
autores/as de las mismas dispondrán de 20 minutos para su presentación.
Previamente (hasta el 20 de octubre) deberán enviar el texto final
-original e inédito- de una extensión total de entre 6.000 y 8.000 palabras.

Resultado de resúmenes aceptados: 15/07.
Inscripción precio - fecha límite: 50 euros - 15/09.
Envío de texto completo (original e inédito): hasta el 20/10.
Envío de trabajos finales para posible publicación; opcional (*): hasta
el 11/11.

(*) La dirección del seminario está haciendo gestiones para que los
textos presentados se publiquen en una revista científica que cuente con
sistema de evaluación peer-review.
