      that I am Chairing as *part of the 15^th Annual International
      Conference on Communication and Mass Media in Athens Greece 8-11
      May 2017. Should you have any questions, please let me know. At
      the moment, it is an open panel with possible themes related to
      topics not often discussed, but it may get more specific depending

The Mass Media & Communication Research Unit <http://www.atiner.gr/media-unit> of Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER) organizes *A Panel on Community Media, 8-11 May 2017, Athens, Greece* as part of the 15^th Annual International Conference on Communication and Mass Media <http://www.atiner.gr/media> sponsored by the Athens Journal of Mass Media and Communications <http://www.athensjournals.gr/ajmmc>.

Community media are flourishing worldwide because of their diversity and fundamental desire to serve the interests of the people they serve. Whether it is a website, radio or television station, community media have much to celebrate. This panel seeks to highlight recent work of scholars who explore the rich, diverse and original community media:

  * Governance structures
  * Programming
  * Audience research
  * Use of technology
  * Innovations
  * Funding models

These categories are general to allow for a variety of people to propose topics. It is hoped that this panel will be representative of the people who make community media THE multicultural broadcasting example of the world.

Special arrangements will be made with a local hotel for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate. In addition, a number of social events will be organized: A Greek night of entertainment with dinner, a special one-day cruise to selected Greek islands, an archaeological tour of Athens and a one-day visit to Delphi. If your submission is accepted, you will receive information on registration deadlines and paper submission requirements. The Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER)was established in 1995 as an independent world association of Academics and Researchers. Its mission is to act as a forum where Academics and Researchers from all over the world can meet in Athens, in order to exchange ideas on their research, and to discuss future developments in their disciplines.

The organizing and hosting of International Conferences and Symposiums <http://www.atiner.gr/Conferences.htm>, the carrying out of Research, and the production of Publications are the basic activities of ATINER. Since 1995, ATINER has organized more than 400 International Conferences and other events, and has published close to 200 books <http://www.atiner.gr/Publications.htm>. In 2012, the Association launched a series of conference paper publications (click here <http://www.atiner.gr/papers.htm>), and at the beginning of 2014, it introduced its own series of Journals (click here <http://www.athensjournals.gr/>).

Academically, the Association is organized into seven Research Divisions <http://www.atiner.gr/RESEARCH-DIVISIONS.htm> and fourty Research Units <http://www.atiner.gr/RESEARCH-DIVISIONS.htm>. Each Research Unit organizes at least an Annual International Conference, and may also undertake various small and large research projects.
