Understanding Transition V - Developing Dialogic Communication

Philosophy, linguistics, rhetoric, psychology, or relational 
communication are just four disciplines which lay a great emphasis on 
dialogue. Involving an effort to recognize the value of the other 
(Buber, 1970), the concept of dialogue provides a framework for thinking 
about ethical relationship building in relational communication (Kent, 
Taylor, 2002).
Unlike a "monologal" discourse, produced and managed by a single locutor 
on the basis of  a pre-constructed Other's image, the dialogic 
communication provides several enunciative voices within a unique 
utterance  (Moirand, 2002). The dialogic communication is above all the 
condition for the possibility of dialogue, the primordial sharing of the 
power to signify, despite the constraints of the interlocution context: 
status, belonging, relationship of places, objectives, nature of the 
issues/ problems (Jacques, 1995).

 Besides the human-to-human communication (HHC), dialogism should be 
discussed in relation to computer-mediated communication (CMC) as well. 
All types of organizations face great challenges due to the 
technological developments since the digital natives have become more 
interactive, more critical, more involved in communication and demand 
more feedback (European Communication Monitor, 2013). Whether we talk 
about HHC or CMC, dialogic communication requires a mutual symmetrical 
relationship through which participants co-construct meaning by 
effectively managing their differences and diversity.
This international conference is an ideal opportunity for experienced 
researchers, young researchers and PhD students to share their 
scientific work in an interdisciplinary context and to take part in the 
debates over various approaches and case studies related to dialogic 
communication. Presentations based on empirical research and on sound 
theoretical approaches are invited for the 5th edition of Understanding 
Transition (Developing Dialogic Communication) conference, on topics 
such as:

 Insights into dialogic theories
Argumentative and/or dialogic communication
Dialogic communication and cognitive processes
Dialogic communication: from theory to (cultural) practice
Dialogic communication and media studies
Dialogic internet principles
Online/offline organization-public relationships
Dialogic communication throughout crisis situations
Dialogic communication and cultural studies
Challenges of new media and social media for dialogic communication
Dialogism and technology
Digital citizenship
Advertising industry and dialogic communication challenges
Dialogic communication development within the Romanian advertising 
during transition
Any other topic related to the main theme of the conference.

AFCOM members – 150 RON (the 2017 AFCOM membership fee)
Non-AFCOM members - 180 RON/ 40 euro
PhD students – 90 RON/ 20 euro Deadline for complete manuscripts: April
