is inviting abstract submissions for consideration for publication in 
its Special Issue on “Communicating Science and Collaborating for
Resilient Solutions to Climate Change.”

*Editors: *Candice Howarth (University of Surrey, UK), Alison Anderson 
(Plymouth University, UK)

   * Dr Candice Howarth is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of
     Surrey. She is the Editor of /The/ /International Journal of Climate
     Change: Impacts and Responses/ and sits on the Editorial Board of
     /Environmental Communication/. Her research focuses on science and
     climate communication, the science-policy interface, and
     nexus-related decision-making. She is a member of the UCL Policy
     Commission on Communicating Climate Science; she set up and chairs
     the Nexus Shocks Network, sits on the Royal Meteorological Society
     Climate Science Communication group, and is a committee member of
     the BSA Climate Change Study Group.
   * Dr Alison Anderson is a Professor of Sociology and Director of the
     Centre for Culture, Community & Society, Plymouth University, UK.
     She is Editor-in-Chief of the Routledge journal /Environmental
     Communication/ (2014–2017) and advisory board member of /The/
     /International Journal of Climate Change: Impacts and Responses/.
     Professor Anderson’s sole-authored books include /Media, Culture &
     the Environment/ (Routledge, 1997) and /Media, Environment and the
     Network Society/ (Palgrave, 2014). Her research interests focus
     particularly on climate change communication. She is a Fellow of the
     Royal Society of Arts and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Science.

*Focus*

It is becoming increasingly important for scientists to communicate 
their findings effectively to those informing and formulating policy. 
Climate change—arguably the most serious challenge facing 
mankind—requires exceptional abilities to communicate complex science, 
while managing the uncertainties that characterise it. With growing 
pressure for policy-makers, practitioners, civil society organisations, 
businesses, and members of the public to change their own practices to 
reduce greenhouse gases and adapt to impacts of climate change, 
scientists are under increasing pressure to engage with these audiences 
effectively.

We invite papers for this Special Issue from a variety of perspectives 
and methods from across academia, policy, NGOs, and practitioner 
communities that advance and demonstrate the impact of how communication 
of evidence and cross-stakeholder collaboration can inform resilient 
solutions to climate change. This will involve, but will not be limited 
to, addressing the following questions:

   * How can scientific evidence be better communicated to more
     efficiently inform decision-making on climate change?
   * How can the social and natural sciences work together to inform
     communication and collaboration on climate change?
   * How can cross-sectorial and cross-stakeholder collaboration lead to
     better evidence, science communication, and more resilient responses
     to climate change?
   * What evidence is there of communication and collaboration across
     scales: household, community, local, national, regional, and
     international levels?

**

*Article types*

The journal will accept the following types of articles for publication:

   * /Research article/: a paper containing original research results
     that has not been published elsewhere. Articles shall have a maximum
     length of 8,000 words (including title, abstract, and references).
   * /Commentary/: an opinion piece providing a critical evaluation of a
     published article or topic relating to the focus of the special
     issue. Commentaries shall have a maximum length of 2,000 words
     (including title, abstract, and references).
   * /Review/: a paper that comprehensively sums up the current state of
     research. Reviews shall have a maximum length of 8,000 words
     (including title, abstract, and references).

*Instructions for Authors***

   * Authors interested in submitting a paper for this Special Issue are
     asked to send their abstracts (about 200–250 words, with a tentative
     title and indicating the article type) by email to Dr Candice
     Howarth((Candice.howarth /at/ surrey.ac.uk)

     use the following email subject: “Special Issue Communication and
     Collaboration.”
   * All article submissions undergo double-blind peer review. Authors
     are asked to consult the journal's instructions for authors
     <http://commongroundpublishing.com/support/author-guidelines>—please
     note word count _must include_ title, abstract and references.
   * Open Access of articles is available, should authors wish to pursue
     this route; please check with your institution if funds are
     available to cover open access publication costs. If Open Access is
     not selected, then the author will have to abide by the journal’s
