Call for chapters:  The Films of Aki Kaurismäki

Despite creating an extensive and innovative body of work over the last 
30 years, Aki Kaurismäki remains relatively neglected in Anglophone 
scholarship. This collection of original essays and selected 
translations aims to redress such neglect by offering a range of 
critical inquiries into Kaurismäki's politically and aesthetically 
compelling cinema.

Possible topics include:
-visual aesthetics
-realism / fantasy
-representations of Finland / Europe
-class relations
-gender
-nostalgia
-use of music
-performance style
-humour
-generic hybridity / pastiche
-as art cinema
-as cult cinema

Proposals on these or any other facets of Kaurismäki's oeuvre are invited.
Please send a 300 word proposal and brief biography by 1 June 2015
