The development of online platforms together with changes in users’ 
behavior (social media, blogs, collaborative media making) call 
traditional media organizations (including radio and TV) to adapt to the 
digital mediascapes. All of this is of critical importance for public 
service media (PSM), which has been tasked to serve the societal and 
cultural needs of a given nation and to promote democracy and 
participation within the geographical boundaries.



The goal of the conference is to highlight and evidence the development 
scenario for public service media in the era of convergence and 
digitalisation. The meeting aims at redefining the model of contemporary 
PSMs in the context of both external (media regulation, public service 
remit, relations with the publics) and internal challenges (structures, 
funding, organisational culture, innovation and new technologies). All 
of this when taking part in the discussions with representatives from 
governmental bodies, regulatory authority (The National Broadcasting 
Council), international organisations (European Broadcasting Union, The 
Council of Europe) as well as leaders and managers of public media in 
Poland (Polskie Radio – PR, Telewizja Polska – TVP).



Among the salient questions to be addressed are: What is the current 
state of discussions on public service media going forward? What are the 
good practices for PSM adaptation to the digital ecosystems? What 
recommendations could be addressed to policy makers and PSM leaders and 
managers in order to assist the evolution towards the network paradigm?

Important dates: March 31, 2015 – deadline for abstract/statement 
submission; May 31, 2015 – publication of conference programme



Conference language: English and Polish



The Authors of the most interesting speeches and recommendations will be 
invited to submit paper proposals for international publication.
