Media and the Economic Crisis
CALL FOR PAPERS
The world and local economies found themselves in the vortex of the
global economic crisis, whose consequences are still felt today. Many
countries are slowly recovering, while the others are on the bottom of
the second part of the crisis. The media has failed to anticipate the
financial crisis in 2008, and journalists have forgotten the
responsibility to be accountable to their readers. On the other hand,
the media are in an economic crisis. A growing number of journalists
are losing their jobs, and more media becomes bankrupt as a result of
the economic crisis and decline in advertising revenue. In the same
time, the governments and corporations failed to inform the public
about the financial problems, and perspectives of recovery.
The aim of the conference is to understand the extent to which the
media and public relations are responsible for the crisis, what the
media, journalism and PR roles are in the global economy and what the
business and organizational models are appropriate to make the media
and PR business successful. Different theoretical and empirical
scientific approaches are welcome.
Papers presented at the conference (after peer review) will be
published in science journal Medianali.
