13th& 14th November 2013

The Political Studies Association is the UK’s leading association in the study and research of politics. The Media& Politics Group is one of the Political Studies Association’s largest specialist groups.
Minority Voices, Media and Politics
The primary theme of this year’s conference will be ‘Minority Voices, Media and Politics.’ The conference will explore the often problematic relationship between the media, politics and marginalised, silenced or minority voices in contemporary society. Taking a broad approach to the topic, this conference encourages papers from different disciplinary, methodological, historical and national perspectives. Papers may examine the impacts of both new and traditional forms of contemporary media upon practices and concepts of exclusion and power. Selected papers from the conference will be invited as contributions to an edited collection. If you wish for your paper to be considered for the edited collection please indicate this on your abstract.
The Media& Politics Group operates an inclusive policy, and papers dealing with any aspect of media and politics are welcomed. This may include areas of political communication and journalism, as well as a broader view of the political within such areas as online media, television, cinema and media arts, both factual and fictional. In addition to academic research, the conference will also welcome practice-based work related to the area of media and politics.
