Call for papers � special issue Diasporic Identities, Media, Public Space
(January 2012)
Romanian Journal of Communication and Public Relations

(National School of Political Studies and Public Administration,
Bucharest, Romania).
The Romanian Journal of Communication and Public Relations invites paper
submissions for a special issue on the diasporic phenomenon in relation to
mediatization practices and the configuration of public sphere. The issue
seeks to explore various visibility patterns of diasporic identities and
any complementary theme is considered relevant as long as it allows
insight into various aspects of this problem.
Topics may include, but are not limited to:
�Diasporic spaces, media representations, public issues;�Media discourse,
�moral distance�, cosmopolitanism;�Migration, europeanization and European
public sphere;�Mobility, labor force and public policy debates;�Migration,
diasporic identities and critical analysis: language, media stereotypes on
diasporas;�Migration and political communication: branding nations,
cultural identities, diasporic arguments;�Migration, mobility, new media;
�Diaspora, collective memory and history;�Ethnic media, transnational
media and national reporting on diasporas.
Please send articles of 35,000-50,000 characters (with spaces) to the
special issue editors ((camelia.beciu /at/ gmail.com),
(malina.ciocea /at/ comunicare.ro), (alex.carlan /at/ comunicare.ro)) with the subject
line �Diasporic identities special issue�.
Submissions (as Word attachments) should contain a page with the title of
the paper, the name of the issue ("Diasporic identities, media, public
space"), and the name(s) and contact details for all authors and the
article on a separate page (with no author identification so as to allow
blind review).
Deadline for submission of articles is November 15, 2011.
The articles will be submitted to blind peer review; participants will be
notified about results and possible revision by December, 15. The final
version of the papers should be sent by January 15, 2012.
