Call for papers
Contemporary Caribbean dynamics: Re-configuring Caribbean Culture
The Editors are issuing a call for papers for inclusion in their publication Contemporary Caribbean dynamics: Re-configuring Caribbean Culture. The aim of this book is to bring together Caribbean scholars to define the contemporary vision of the Caribbean.
Readership:
This book of papers is intended for Caribbean researchers, academics and postgraduate students who need an integrated overview of critical social, cultural and political issues in the Caribbean today. To this end, the Editors are inviting scholars from a wide range of disciplines to submit papers.
Purpose:
This book of edited papers seeks to provide a timely panorama of emergent issues in an increasingly globalized Caribbean region. The Caribbean of the 21st century can no longer be comprehended in terms of well-defined geographical demarcations but re-configured through an examination of its rich transborder multi-faceted culturally diverse diaspora. A variety of overarching themes may be explored within this context.
Topics:
Some specific areas of discussion may include but are not limited to:
- Critical imaginative geographies
- Creole politics / poetics
- Re-imaging genders
- Economic migrancy
- Neo-liberalism and global finance
- The economics of environmental crisis
- Economies of social, interpersonal and psychoanalytic process
- Re-appraising the traditional rites and rituals
- Contesting the canon and counter-discursive strategies
- Re-thinking history in cinema, literature, politics and economy
- Diverse notions of identity
- New perspectives in higher education (access, quality vs. quantity, developing postgraduate courses, etc.)
- And any other topics specifically relevant to contemporary Caribbean dynamics and specially reconfiguring Caribbean culture
Proposals:
The Editors invite you to submit a proposal on any issue related to these broad Caribbean thematic perspectives. A proposal should include:
- a 250-word abstract
- a 50-word bio
- full contact information and affiliation
Submission schedule
Abstract submission: July 15th, 2011
Notification of acceptance: August 15th, 2011
Guidelines for submission sent to contributors on notification of acceptance
Referencing style: APA
Full articles submission: August 31st, 2011
