[ecrea] Call for Papers - Media and Identity: Emancipation or Repression? (deadline 15 feb)
Mon Feb 07 13:22:16 GMT 2011
The Department of Media and Communications organises the third PhD
Symposium for research students. This year we have invited Ph.D.
students to rethink the relationship between media and identity.
We wish to conceptualize identity as a process of political struggle
that may have both emancipatory effects, enabling individuals or
groups to manifest themselves, and repressive effects, excluding
minorities from dominant definitions of the self. Thus, we welcome
any contribution aimed at examining how symbolic production and
technologies participate in the reflexive construction of the
individual self as well as in the construction of boundaries of
group inclusion and exclusion.
Submissions are invited to the Call for Papers by 15 February 2011
The Symposium will be held on June 10th, 2011 at LSE.
Best regards and thank you,
Marco and Tal
