[Commlist] PhD opportunities at St Andrews

The Department of Film Studies at the University of St Andrews invites applications for September 2022 entry to our PhD programme. There are a number of doctoral fellowships and scholarships available for applicants, including the Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities (SGSAH) AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership, Wolfson Foundation St. Andrews Doctoral Scholarships, University of St. Andrews St Leonard's College Postgraduate Scholarships as well as internal departmental and school fellowships. The deadline for all applications wishing to be considered for a scholarship is* 8th December, 2021*.

Situated in one of the UK's most beautiful university towns, the Department of Film Studies at St. Andrews maintains an ambitious research programme in global screen cultures, with staff expertise foregrounding cultural-political, historiographical and aesthetic approaches to screen media. The department has an especially vibrant culture of postgraduate research. PGR students have opportunities to collaborate on an annual conference, edit and contribute to the student-run Frames Cinema Journal <http://framescinemajournal.com>, teach undergraduate seminars, use travel and research funds for conferences and library purchases, and participate in weekly research, teaching and community events organised by the Department. The programme is distinguished by its multifaceted approach to screen cultures in diverse global and intermedial contexts and currently has an international PhD cohort stemming from five continents.
