Assistant Professor of Communication and Media Studies, Franklin 
University Switzerland

Franklin University Switzerland seeks applications for the position of 
Assistant Professor of Communication and Media Studies. The position is 
full-time, renewable, and with a clear promotion ladder. The position 
begins in August 2022, pending funding. The successful candidate will 
have a Ph.D. at the time of hire with a specialization in Communication 
and Media Studies. More specifically, the successful candidate will be 
able to conduct research and teach undergraduate courses in the areas of 
Media Studies, Public Relations, and Communication/Media Strategies. The 
successful candidate will bring a focus on emerging technologies and a 
global perspective in teaching courses in these areas. The candidate can 
take quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method methodological 
approaches. Preference will be given to candidates who can draw on 
innovative, more recent research methods.  A normal course load is six 
courses per year, including a course with an Academic Travel component 
(36-38 ECTS annually).

Consistent with the mission of the University, applicants must 
demonstrate a commitment to excellence in both teaching and scholarship, 
have an active research agenda, and contribute to the Academic Travel 
program, a fundamental part of Franklin’s international, 
interdisciplinary, intercultural curriculum. Ideally, candidates will be 
conversant in one of the official languages of Switzerland and have an 
established interest in interdisciplinary teaching. Experience with 
Swiss/EU-funded projects is a plus.

Videoconferencing interviews will be followed by on-campus interviews

rolling basis.
