About the role

The Arts and Cultural Management Program in the School of Culture and 
Communication is seeking to make a continuing appointment for a Level B 
Lecturer in Creative Industries. We are seeking an energetic and 
committed individual who is able to complement and diversify the 
Program’s teaching and research, with particular emphasis on the 
cultural and creative industries.

The Arts and Cultural Management program offers an academically 
rigorous, vocationally-oriented Master of Arts. The degree prepares 
students to work in the arts and creative industries, through solid 
theoretical and conceptual foundations, combined with a commitment to 
industry-relevant skills. Through the three capstone options – a thesis, 
a practical project, or an internship – students apply their insights 
and skills in a way that best suits their interests and professional 
needs. Our diverse and dynamic program team works together to combine 
our strengths to deliver excellent teaching and pursue exciting 
research. We regularly meet through the Cultural Policy Reading Group 
and guest seminars and lectures.

A Lecturer undertakes teaching and research in their discipline or 
related areas. They will contribute to teaching at the postgraduate 
level, and undertake research or engage in professional activities 
appropriate to their profession or discipline. The Lecturer undertakes 
administration primarily relating to their activities within the Faculty 
and may be required to perform the full academic responsibilities of, 
and related administration for, the coordination of an award program of 
the University.

The Lecturer will have experience in research, which has resulted in the 
publication of high-quality outputs or other demonstrated scholarly 
activities. Research may be carried out independently and/or as part of 
a team. The Lecturer may supervise postgraduate research students or 
projects and be involved in research training.

About you

You will bring to the role:

    A completed PhD in a relevant discipline and demonstrated 
specialisation in the cultural and creative industries
    A strong record in research with a developing publication profile 
and an ambitious agenda for future research
    Demonstrated ability for excellence in teaching and coordination, 
including the capacity to initiate course development and curriculum 
revision
    Ability to supervise postgraduate coursework degree (MA), honours 
and research higher degree (MA by Research and PhD) theses
    Demonstrated capacity for multidisciplinary and collaborative research
    Capacity to attract research grants and consultancies
    Demonstrated professional and collegial behaviour of a very high 
standard (encompassing commitment to the Faculty’s Values and Behaviours 
outlined elsewhere in this document).
    Strong computer literacy in line with the University’s commitment 
to eTeaching and eLearning
