The 4th International Symposium Fusion in Cinema will take place on the
17th and 18th November 2017, in São João da Madeira.
This 4th edition of the Symposium will be co-organized by Caminhos Film
Festival and by the Mobile Unit for Research in Local Studies (ELO)
fromUniversidadeAberta. All proposals will undergo a peer review
process, held in the form of blind review in order to guarantee the
fairness and impartiality of the assessment. The articlessubmitted and
accepted for communicationwill later be published in the minutes of the
symposium in electronic format. The best works will be published in the
Journal Linguagem do Cinema e do Audiovisual fromLatec-UFRJ (Lab
of Information and Communication Technologies – Federal University of
Rio de Janeiro). The deadline for the acceptanceof proposals for
communication is the 15th October.
In this 4th International Symposium, teachers, researchers, guest
speakers, experts and artists from different areas will analysethe
current artistic and educational practices, the new roles of the
different actors involved in today’s creative and operational dynamics
of art, education and culture.

Caminhos Film Festival and UniversidadeAberta invite you to submit
communication proposals in Portuguese, English or Spanish, not exceeding
1500 characters (including spaces), in accordance to the following
thematic guidelines of the Symposium (which can be extended to other areas):
Guideline 1 – Fusion of Arts in Cinema
The relationship between the different types of art and cinema: -
Architecture; - Literature / Screenplay; - Interpretation /
Representation; - Music; - Photography; - Visual Arts.
Guideline 2 – Cinema and Technology
The evolution of technology and the way Cinema reaches the Audience: -
Subtitling, dubbing, and audio description; - The New technologies,
Internet and cinema; - Means, formats and new media.
Guideline 3 – Cinema, Research and Education
Cinema in different learning environments (online and face-to-face);
Cinema and Research in an Educational Context; Film Practices in the
School; Cinema and New Technologies in Education; Cinema and Social
Networks in Formal and Informal Learning Contexts; Production of
AudiovisualLearning Objects with Educational Purposes, through the use
of Film Language.
Guideline 4 – Cinema and Television
Theoretical approaches toaudiovisual production in general, including
all genres and distribution platforms, within the national and
international contemporary context; The analysis of the relationship
between directing and producing cinematographic and television
contents;Cinema and Television - parallel or interconnectedworlds.
Submission of Proposals
REGISTER COMMUNICATIONS REGISTER AS AUDIENCE
Communication proposals to be submitted must include the definition and
delimitation of the research’s object of study; the scientific relevance
and significance of the proposal; the objectives and the methodology of
the research/analysis; main bibliographic references, and between three
and five keywords. Each proposalmust also be submitted with a biography
of the author(s) with up to 750 characters (including spaces).
Each applicant can submit more than one proposal and communications can
be presented in co-authorship. All communications must have a maximum
duration of 20 minutes, regardless of the number of co-authors or of the
number of communications per guideline/panel.
Instructions for the Submission of Articles
The final version of everyarticle must respect the following requirements:
– Title in Portuguese or Spanish, and in English;
– Author(s) identification;
– Identification of the institution in which
the author(s)is(are) enrolled and their nationality;
– Abstract, with a maximum of 1500 characters (including spaces), in
Portuguese or Spanish, and in English;
– Five keywords in the chosen language;
– The body of the Article must have between 20 000 and 50 000 characters
(including spaces);
– The article must be written in one of the official languages of the
4th Symposium (Portuguese, Spanish or English);
– The format of the article must be ‘.doc’; ‘.docx’; ‘.rtf’;
– Images and tables must be sent in ‘.jpg’ with a resolution of 300 dpi.
Images must be sent within the Word file and in a separate file with the
corresponding caption of the Word file;
– The bibliographic references must follow the APA style – 6th Edition.
