Subject: University of Westminster’s BBC Local Radio 50th Anniversary
Symposium, Sat 18 November 2017
The Communication and Media Research Institute (CAMRI) at the University
of Westminster, with support from the Radio Studies Network/MeCCSA, are
pleased announce the line-up for our one-day symposium to mark the 50th
Anniversary of the launch of BBC Local Radio.
The symposium comprises panel discussions and papers, taking a critical
look at local radio broadcasting, drawing on comparative perspectives
from across the entire local radio sector:

Local Radio & Innovation: Deborah Wilson-David; Charles Runcie; Phil
Ramsey; Helen Gubbins
Local Radio & ILR: Emma Wray; Tony Stoller; Richard Rudin
Local Radio & News: Aleksander Kocic; Jim Latham
Local Radio & Archives: Paul Wilson (curator Radio, British Library);
Jane Wood (Revealing Voices)
Panel Discussion, chaired by Trevor Dann, discussing Local Radio and its
legacy with author and former Head of Local Radio Training Robert
McLeish and former Managing Editor of BBC Three Counties Radio Mark Norman.
The event will be taking place on Saturday 18 November 2017, from 09:30
until 16:30, at 309 Regent Street, London, W1B 2HW.
