[eccr] global television

Wed Oct 29 11:00:32 GMT 2003

You are cordially invited to participate in an online discussion forum
about global television. The basic purpose of the forum is to expand our
collective knowledge about what television is like across the globe.

http://www.tcf.ua.edu/ss/forum11.html

There are one billion TV sets in more than 160 countries being watched by
2.5 billion people per day. What exactly appears on all of those sets, and
what do those watching think of what they're seeing? What is television
programming like from one country to the next? What do particular viewers
across the globe like to see, not like to see, wish they could see, and
regret having seen?

This discussion forum invites TV viewers across the world to post answers
to these questions, thereby helping to create a kaleidoscopic picture of
what this ubiquitous medium is like from place to place and how viewers the
world over use it and feel about it.

So in the spirit of global exchange, I invite you post your thoughts about
what television is like in your particular corner of the world. You can
post about anything TV-related: a general overview of the channel line-ups
in your country, a summary of what kinds of programs appear, a description
of particular shows that you love or hate, an assessment of how TV is
controlled, etc.

So please visit the forum, post your thoughts, return often to read other
posts, and pass along this e-mail and the link to anyone who else might be
interested in posting or simply reading.
