[Commlist] New book: Miscommunications Collection

Fri Jan 15 21:26:36 GMT 2021

We are delighted to announce the publication of Miscommunications: Errors, Mistakes, Media <https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/miscommunications-9781501363832/>, edited by Maria Korolkova and Timothy Barker, in Thinking | Media series of Bloomsbury Academic.

The volume investigates miscommunication and errors in media history and cultural theory and includes contributions from key scholars in media archaeology, media philosophy and sound studies, such as Wolfgang Ernst, Frances Dyson, Stephen Kennedy, and Peter Krapp.

The essays in the book start charting the new conditions for discourse in the 21^st  century and collectively they show how studies of communication can be refigured when we focus on the capacity for errors, accidents, mistakes, malfunctions and both intentional and non-intentional miscommunications.

This edited collection presents a unique and original meeting of minds. Rather than separating approaches, as is so often the case, into technical, cultural, political, aesthetic fields, the book combines different perspectives on the idea of miscommunication to inspire new insights on this multidisciplinary topic.
