New book /Music by Numbers/, co-edited by Richard Osborne and Dave
Laing, has recently been made available by Intellect:

Dave proposed the idea for a book addressing the use and abuse of
statistics in the music industries at the first Working in Music
conference, which took place in Glasgow in 2016. Richard put his name
forwards to work with him and thoroughly enjoyed the collaboration. This
is last book Dave worked on before his untimely death, which occurred
two years ago today.
Richard is glad to say that /Music by Numbers/ includes chapters by
Dave's friends, colleagues and admirers, and is thankful to them for
their excellent work. Above all else, though, Richard would like to pay
tribute to Dave for being such a phenomenal scholar and excellent
person. He is sorely missed. Richard pasy tribute to him in the
introduction to the book, which is available here for those who might be
interested:
