[Commlist] Wanted - Assistant for Book Reviews Section, Critical Studies in Television

Wed May 01 18:10:45 GMT 2019

The journal, /Critical Studies in Television/, Sage is looking for an Assistant for Book Reviews Section to work in particular with Richard Hewett who is the Assistant Book Reviews Editor. More details of the journal can be found here https://uk.sagepub.com/en-gb/eur/critical-studies-in-television/journal202513#editorial-board

This voluntary post involves organising  the books which are submitted and/or agreed for review. The main tasks are

  * to receive books from the publishers and post them out to contributors
  * to liaise with reviewers and the book review section editors through
email (upon receiving books, acquiring postal addresses, informing
reviewers when books have been posted etc)
  * to update a central spreadsheet on an ongoing basis in order to
track deliveries from publishers and to reviewers

We publish four times a year and work will not be too onerous in terms of time, though working to deadlines is important. The post will give experience of working on an academic journal which is run in a friendly and open fashion. There may well be the opportunity to contribute review(s) on appropriate areas of expertise. The post, which must be held by someone in the UK, has previously been successfully held by a PhD researcher.

If you are interested, please send a brief cv to Christine Geraghty and Richard Hewett ((R.J.Hewett /at/ salford.ac.uk)).The current holder vacates the post in June and we are looking to find her replacement as soon as possible.
