Please find below the link to the Special Issue (Forced) Migration and Media Studies, published in for(e)dialogue, the peer reviewed online journal for doctoral and early career researchers by the School of Media, Communication and Sociology, University of Leicester.

This Special Issue is the result of two workshops organised at the University of Leicester in the summer of 2016, which were a response to the topical interest for refugee's access to digital technologies AND the dehumanizing language used in, especially but not limited to British, media regarding migrants and/or refugees.

In the editorial we connect the the main outcomes of the workshops to the articles within this Special Issue. Main outcomes consist of the importance that scholars on (forced) migration and media move beyond techno/cyber orientalism, and instead situate migrants' media use and responses towards migration into broader historical and socio-economical contexts and finally, the responsibility that researchers and activists have in regard to ongoing acts of solidarity.
