[Commlist] call for special issue & virtual conference contribution; "Conflicts, Communication & the Media"

“CONFLICTS, COMMUNICATION & THE MEDIA”
VIRTUAL CONFERENCE
06-07 April 2023
Participants in the virtual conference on will benefit from feedback and
an opportunity to refine or develop CONFLICTS; COMMUNICATION & the MEDIA
work, prior to submission to the associated journal. It will be a great
opportunity to network with other researchers from different parts of
the world to open a discussion on various emerging topics, compare
practices in different communities.
Successful submissions to the journal do not depend upon participation
in the conference, and nor do participation in the conference guarantee
publication, it is aimed that these two activities will support each
other, and our participants, as they develop work for publication in the
Connectist 2023 December issue CONFLICTS; COMMUNICATION & the MEDIA
If you would like to contribute as a participant for the virtual
conference, please submit a word document containing:
- title of the project
- author(s) name (s)
- author (s)affiliation(s)
- author(s) organization(s)
- 500-word abstract

CALL FOR PAPERS December 2023 ISSUE
“CONFLICTS, COMMUNICATION & THE MEDIA”
We are in a period where communication is completely globalized and
technological innovations are competing with time. We watch with
amazement the media use its 4th force, like a sharp knife, in such a
period. If we count the positive and negative effects of the Covid-19
pandemic, which broke out in November 2019 and subjected the whole world
to restrictions under its deadly effect, on media and communication, we
would mainly express what kind of chaos the countries of the world are
in. Unfortunately, the world is on the verge of another danger, while
Covid-19 has not yet completely passed.
This new danger is that Russia, one of the two superpowers of the world,
has carried out a cross-border invasion with a claim. This, together
with the occupation, which greatly concerns all countries and
superpowers, brings together the national and international cultural and
economical relations, communication policies, cross-border relations,
territorial defence activities and their reflections in the media,
consequently misinformation and desinformation pollution through social
media.
Additionally, freedom wars have still going on in some 3rd world
countries due to territorial or political reasons. Innocent people,
civilians, children from countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine,
and Ukraine -perhaps- are leaving for reasons that they are not fully
aware of, or they are left alone in the world! They cannot hold anyone
accountable or claim their rights. They are forced to migrate to other
countries or seek asylum in order to survive.
The United Nations has warned that it is on the verge of the most
serious food, energy and economic crisis ever due to the Russia-Ukraine
war. UN Secretary General, Guterres, stated that 47 million more people
may face food insecurity this year due to the war. The UN has released a
new report on the impact of Russia's war against Ukraine on food, energy
and financial systems. According to the report, 1,6 billion people in 94
countries are facing the effects of the Ukraine war and are struggling
to cope with rising food and oil prices.
The report points out that the world is on the verge of the most serious
food, energy and economic crisis ever due to the Ukraine war. Speaking
to reporters at the UN Headquarters regarding the report, UN
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said, "The impact of war on food
security, energy and finance is systematic, severe and accelerating. War
brings unprecedented hunger and poverty, social and economic chaos." warned.
According to the Statistica Infographic Bulletin dated 13/04/22, 4.6
Million Seeking Refuge from Russian Invasion. “As of April 13, 12 PM
CET, around 4,6 million people living in Ukraine have left the country
to seek shelter from Russian aggression. Roughly 2,6 million refugees
have reached Poland via foot, bus, car or train looking for safety from
the Russia-Ukraine war according to government records. Apart from
Poland, Romania and Moldova have carried the brunt of the refugee wave
among Ukraine's neighboring countries over the last weeks.”
With similar reasons, so many refugees from Syria, India, Afghanistan
and some neighbouring countries have still been seeking a country to
survive on with their families. It consequently gives an uncontrolled
rise to illegal refugee transportations and international communication
conflicts as well.
The impact of rising consumer prices is being especially felt in Europe
and countries neighboring Ukraine. Rising inflation, largely caused by a
sharp increase in energy and food prices, is causing hardship to survive
and inevitable protests and conflicts with govermental authorities and
political actors.
As a result, this chaotic situation in the world concerns everyone from
politicians to economists, from health professionals to academicians,
and especially those who produce audio-visual or printed content in the
media should be careful about fake information. It is obvious that the
instant distribution of false news through social media will lead to
further expansion of chaos.
Consequently, you are invited to explore the reflections of conflicts in
every field in the world and share with us in our journal “Connectist”
as a manuscript. We welcome your precious contributions

* The language of the publication is English,
* The papers must not exceed 7.000 words ,
* All manuscripts will be subject to double-blind peer-review.
