Wed Aug 31 14:52:44 GMT 2022
MultiPlay's call for abstracts for the Gothic Games and Disturbing Play
conference closes on the 16^th September. The conference takes place on
the 26^th of October and will be free and online.
We are currently seeking abstracts for conference presentations, focused
upon horror games, disturbing play, and even horror fan communities. A
fan of Resident Evil? Want to talk about the ethics of play in The
Walking Dead? Now is your chance! Presentations will last twenty
minutes, with a ten-minute question and answer session at the end of
each slot. *We are currently seeking abstracts to be submitted to
(networkmultiplay /at/ gmail.com) by Friday 16th September.*
*We ask for submissions to consist of a 300 word (maximum) proposal*,
including references using the Harvard reference style guide, as well as
a short author biography of no more than 100 words. These should be
emailed to (networkmultiplay /at/ gmail.com) with the heading ‘Gothic Games’.
Some prompts for abstracts include (but in no way should limit submissions):
* The mechanics of horror games
* Constructing Gothic games
* Labyrinths and tombs in video games
* Horror games and their relationship to environmentalism
* Body horror, particularly related to playable characters
* Death and/or resurrection in horror games
* The high prevalence of pandemic games
