[Commlist] Stories4Policy: Speculative futures for engaging with risk and uncertainty conference

Mon Jun 20 09:05:59 GMT 2022

Colleagues may be interested in this blended conference and exhibition being hosted, in part, by the Institute for Social Futures <https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/social-futures> at Lancaster University, UK, 5-6 July 2022.

Stories4Policy: Speculative futures for engaging with risk and uncertainty

Future policy issues are complex and challenging. As a result, engagement with these issues is often inadequate and superficial. Recent times illustrate the disastrous implications of not paying heed to long-term policy issues. There is growing appetite and interest within UK policy making to pay more sustained attention to these issues, and to use stories and speculation to facilitate this engagement. This conference seeks to bring together the leading practitioners, thinkers and pioneers to share experience and practice, to develop future pathways together, and to demonstrate the fantastic work from across a range of areas of practice with policymakers to showcase the art-of-the-possible.

Day 1 (5th July) – Practitioners of storytelling and speculative futures

Day 2 (6th July) – Engaging the policy makers and demonstrating the outputs
