[Commlist] cfp: Queering and Questioning Video Games Conference

The academic network, MultiPlay, is delighted to announce that on
Wednesday 1st of June we will be hosting ‘*Queering and Questioning
Video Games Conference*’ with paper presentations on this theme.
Presentations will last twenty minutes, with a ten-minute question and
answer session at the end of each slot.
We ask for submissions to consist of a *300 word (maximum) proposal*,
including references using the Harvard reference style guide, as well as
a short author biography of no more than 100 words. These should be
*emailed to (networkmultiplay /at/ gmail.com)* with the heading ‘Queering and
Questioning Video Games.’
The deadline for submissions is Friday 29th April 2022. We invite
researchers to have fun with this theme. However, we have provided some
prompts (but these should in no way limit your ideas):
* Avatars as a safe/dangerous space for questioning identities
* Can games queer us
* The spectacle of queerness
* Designing games with ethical queer inclusion
* Do games reinforce or challenge queer identity borders and binaries?
* The task of programming inclusion in games development (and
radically rethinking games design)
* What does a queer game look like?
* Romance mechanics for aromantic players
* The amatonormative limits of romance games RPG mechanics and the
inclusion/erasure of asexual and aromantic identities
* Pride environments in game environments
* Creating queer spaces and places Queer gaming communities
