[Commlist] Conference: MFRR Summit 2022: Boosting Press Freedom

Wed Mar 16 10:11:53 GMT 2022

*MFRR Summit 2022: Boosting Press Freedom*

On 22-24 March, the Media Freedom Rapid Response (MFRR) partners will host the second MFRR Summit, this year taking place under the title of “Boosting Press Freedom”. We want to invite you, your students, and your networks to take part in the Summit. Full details about the three-day event and how you can join can be found below.

First, a thematic keynote address from a leading stakeholder will open each of the Summit days, reflecting on safety of journalists <https://www.mfrr.eu/mfrr-summit-2022-day-1/>, legal threats <https://www.mfrr.eu/mfrr-summit-2022-day-2/>, and the role of pluralistic media in a democratic society <https://www.mfrr.eu/mfrr-summit-2022-day-3/>. After this, each day will feature two panel sessions which will focus on reporting from protests, online harassment, SLAPPs and other legal challenges, freedom of information, state capture, and the role of local media.

As part of the summit, we will also host specialised workshops for journalists, media professionals, journalist association representatives, and journalism students. During these we will take a closer look at building resilience against online harassment, navigating practical support, and the new Alert Explorer on Mapping Media Freedom <https://www.mappingmediafreedom.org/>. All panels and keynote addresses will be streamed live on the MFRR Twitter <https://twitter.com/MediaFreedomEU> and YouTube <https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnazw95j3pviCGDdkRtHg1A> accounts, and the ECPMF Facebook <https://www.facebook.com/ECPMF/> and LinkedIn <https://www.linkedin.com/company/ecpmf>. Each of the three workshops will take place on Zoom and therefore require registration <https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/mfrr-summit-2022-workshops-tickets-288475868087>.
