[Commlist] Communications Studies in the Digital Age - Call for Symposium Papers

Fri Jan 28 18:31:57 GMT 2022

International Communication Days is organized by Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication annually with a different theme each year, attracting great interest both nationally and internationally. The main title of this year’s international symposium is Communication Studies in the Digital Age. The symposium will be held face-to-face and online on 16-17-18 May 2022 with the participation of renowned keynote speakers. Simultaneous Turkish-English interpretation will be provided during the keynote speeches.

Communication Studies is a growing and rewarding field with the impact of digital technologies as well. While studies on traditional media are being updated in the context of changing social conditions, the field of communication studies continues to diversify with research on digital/new media. Along with the effect of digitalization, studies in the field of communication also allow the development of new paradigms by expanding from the field of mass communication to human-oriented studies. This means that the methodological, theoretical and conceptual discussions in the field will continue to gain new perspectives.

The 9th International Communication Days / Communication Studies in the Digital Age Symposium is organized with the aim of addressing and discussing various dimensions of new paradigms, theoretical, conceptual and methodological orientations that have developed with the use of digital technologies in the field of communication studies. It is expected that the presentations at the symposium will contribute to the progress of the studies in the communication field on a more systematic scientific ground.

The 9th International Communication Days / Communication Studies in the Digital Age will last for three days. Professor Paul Argenti (Dartmouth University), known for his work on crisis communication and management, Professor Nico Carpentier (Charles University/Prague), known for his work in the field of communication and mass communication, Professor Todd Gitlin (Columbia University), known for his work in sociology and sociology of communication, Associate Professor Lemi Baruh (Koç University), known for his new media and communication studies, and two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Paul Salopek (Out of Eden Walk Project, National Geographic), will be among the keynote speakers of the symposium.
