[Commlist] Animation Studies Journal - Volume 16 and changes in permanent CFP

Tue Nov 09 20:55:35 GMT 2021

We are delighted to announce that new essays have been added to Volume 16 of /Animation Studies, /the open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed journal of the Society for Animation Studies devoted to the history, theory, aesthetics and practice of animated media. The essays of Volume 16 can be read here: https://journal.animationstudies.org/category/volume-16/

We also wish to take the occasion to highlight that the aim and scope of the journal as well as its submission policies have been relatively recently reconceived and Animation Studies now welcomes all year round submissions of original English-language essays of between 5,000 and 10,000 words (including endnotes and bibliography) on the history, theory, aesthetics and practice of animated media. The journal publishes original research on topics including (but not limited to) animation theory; animation style, form, and technique; global histories of animation; animation and documentary; animation industries and animation labor; animation pedagogy and archives; expanded animation and mixed media; and intersections between animation and related media. /Animation Studies /welcomes politically engaged approaches to issues of gender, sexuality, race, and class in animated media. Early career and underrepresented researchers are especially encouraged to send in their work.

To learn more about the changes that the journal has undergone reads its improved submission guidelines here: https://journal.animationstudies.org/submission-guidelines/
