Call for Visiting Faculty (School of Media, Higher School of Economics, 
Moscow)

The School of Media at the National Research University Higher School of 
Economics in Moscow (HSE) invites international applications for a 
Visiting Faculty, expected to design and teach a course on media and the 
environment for the master’s program Critical Media Studies

This position is for a period of 1 month, covering visa, accommodation 
and travel expenses (in case of onsite visit) as well as a stipend of 
2000 US Dollars. The post can be held anytime from January 2022 until 
June 2022 (the exact range will be arranged between the Visiting Faculty 
and the department once the applicant is selected) and can be either 
online or offline, depending on willingness and circumstances.
We are particularly interested in applicants working in one or more of 
the following areas:
-Gender, class and ‘race’ in the Anthropocene
-    Representations of climate change
-Techno-science and climate change
-    Digital environmental activism
-Post-fossil fuel economy
-Global political economy of food
-Media and affective ecologies
-Covid-19 and post-pandemic mobilities
-Climate justice and the global South
- Communicating science in post-truth contexts
Apart from designing and teaching the course, the Visiting Faculty will 
be invited to deliver one public lecture on their research as part of 
the invited lecture series of the Critical Media Studies master’s 
program as well as explore possible research collaborations with members 
of the department.
Applicants should have already been awarded their Ph.D. degrees (or be 
in the final stage) and have expertise relevant to the areas of critical 
media studies, cultural studies, political communication, digital 
anthropology and science and technology studies. The award is 
competitive and will be based on the applicant’s CV and proposed course 
outline, which should include a title and short description of the 
course, a breakdown of 8 classes (titles and up to 5 keywords for each 
class) as well as a maximum of 10 suggested readings. Please send the
