[ecrea] CFP New Journalisms: social change, technology, and digital transformation
Mon Oct 29 14:35:03 GMT 2018
Digital transformation has modified the dynamics and scope of
journalism. The technology has been installed in the newsrooms, and news
consumption, so it is time to investigate and question not only the
media and formats (virtual reality, drones, podcast, messaging
services), but also sustainability (communities of readers and users)
and the economic viability of journalistic adventures of a digital
nature (journalistic entrepreneurship).
With this extra number, we aim to address the new journalisms under
their different names: ubiquitous journalism (Salaverría, 2017),
journalism for transformation and social change (Aguilera y Casero,
2018), journalism labs (García Avilés et al., 2018), hacked journalism
(Mancini, 2011), immersive journalism (Domínguez, 2015) or transmedia
journalism (Serrano Tellería, 2014).
The special issue aims to guide research in journalism to address the
naturalization of technology in processes, the production of content,
narratives, business models, ethics and university education.
Before this new research cycle that opens a call is made to texts with
this list of topics:
News consumption: where are the readers?
New journalistic genres: what will we call informative production?
in the new consumer channels?
Journalism and drones: how to report from the air.
Journalism and virtual reality.
Journalism and artificial intelligence.
Journalism and gamification of journalistic information.
The local press before the new generation of digital readers: supports,
audiences, contents.
Ethics of technical information: how to persevere in truthful information,
objective and of public interest?
Teaching journalistic technology: how to create an education that is
cross?
Design and contents: how much and how is the news read?
Transmedia: challenge of digital journalistic production.
Laboratories: explore, innovate, make mistakes.
Sustainability of new journalistic projects: they are no longer
start-ups, but
companies, will they survive?
Lobby, public information and social change.
