[ecrea] Workshop on Decision-making in Standard Developing Organisations for the Internet
Fri Apr 07 21:00:38 GMT 2017
*Invitation to Workshop on Decision-making in Standard Developing
Organisations for the Internet (25 April 2017, Brussels)*
Event information
This workshop is part of a three-year UK ESRC project investigating
decision-making in Internet Standard Development Organisations with no
state involvement.
The workshop starts with a Plenary Session that focuses on internal
decision-making processes in the W3C and IETF.
The workshop is then split into twobreak-out sessions. The first looks
at how external actors, namely the state (national/international
regulatory restrains) andcivil society, affect SDO preferences.
The second break-out session covers current standardisation debates,
specifically: solutions for the mobile web; open standards and patented
software; and security and privacy.
The aim of the workshop is to explore Internet's standards
decision-making as a process and focus on different approaches and
actors rather than technical detail. The findingsof the workshopwill be
summarised and distributed to participants post-event. The programme can
