Topic: ADAPTATION

CALL FOR PAPERS

ClimaCom Scientific Culture - research, journalism and art Magazine is pleased to receive papers, reviews and artistic and cultural productions for its second number, to be published on 15 April 2015. "Adaptation" is the theme of this issue. We seek to reflect upon this concept through articles, reviews, drawings, photographs, videos, etc.

The intensification of extreme events, as a result of climate change, brings into play the notion of adaptation, rule of action when it comes to thinking about the future.

Many challenges take place on the development of indicators, the definition and range of the public policies scope, the construction of scenario and future projections, facing the changes in different areas such as agriculture, urban planning, water resources, health, economy, renewable energy, climate modelling, etc. They must deal with the spatial, demographic, cultural, economic and social heterogeneity of cities, forests, coastal areas and other environments and biomes. How to measure vulnerability to risk, the perception of danger, behaviours and adaptive capacities of populations, local experiences and initiatives in different countries?

Accommodation, resignation, aptitude, survival, mitigation, responsiveness, resiliency, change of function, invention, improvisation, experimentation... One of the goals of this issue is to multiply the possibilities of problematizing adaptation, as well as to explore how sciences, technologies, arts, architecture, design and philosophy can contribute to thinking about adaptation beyond the limits and attachments already given. How can we shed light upon adaptive experiences, expanding the availability of modes of existence, of inhabiting the world and dealing with climate change?
