Papers
The Computer Culture Area of the
SW/TX PCA/ACA (http://swtxpca.org/) is
accepting paper, panel, and other proposals on any aspect of computer
culture.
Possible topics include (but are not limited to):
* The Internet
* Social Networking
* Theories of computer
culture
* Politics on/of/and the
Web
* Blogging
* Twitter
* Virtual communities
* Web site analysis and
design
* Online literary
journals
* E-publishing (for example,
e-zines)
* Fandom, fan fiction, and fan
sites
* Cybercrime (including
cyber-terrorism, online security issues, and spam, scams, and
hoaxes)
* Online cultures (e. g., online news
sites, online sports sites, and so on)
* Viral video
* Live feeds
* and others
For paper proposals: Please submit a
250 word abstract embedded in the body of an email. Include contact
information (e.g., postal and preferred email address, phone and fax
numbers, etc.) and a biographical note about your connection to the
topic.
For panel and other proposals: Feel
free to query first, preferably before November 12. Panel and other
proposals should include all of the information requested for individual
paper proposals, as well as a 100-word statement of the panel's raison
d'etre and any noteworthy organizational features.
Please pass along this call to
friends and colleagues.
Scholars, teachers, professionals,
artists and others interested in computer culture are encouraged to
participate. Graduate students are also
particularly welcome with award
opportunities for best graduate papers. As always, proposals are welcome
from any and all scholars, including
graduate students, independent
scholars, and tenured, tenure-track, and emeritus faculty. Also, unusual
formats, technologies, and the like are encouraged.
