>The VIth Cultural Studies Symposium on Culture and Space jointly
>organized by the Turkish Cultural Studies Association and the Kadir Has
>University will be held on 5-7 September 2011 in Ýstanbul, Turkey.
>The purpose of the symposium is to question existing paradigms in topics
>that bring together the concepts of culture and space, to present
>critical and analytical studies in these themes, and to explore new
>theoretical and methodological approaches in cultural studies with inter-
>and multi-disciplinary perspectives. The International Cultural Studies
>Symposia that are organized every two years have been contributing to
>cultural studies and bringing together researchers who work in this area.
>Since the first meeting in Kemer, Antalya (2001), the Symposia have been
>organized, jointly, in Van with100. Yýl University (2003), in Ýstanbul
>with Koç University (2005), in Þile with Iþýk University (2007), and in
>Zonguldak with Karaelmas University (2009).
>Abstracts are invited on the following sub-themes related to Turkish
>cultures, cultures of Turkey, and of Turks, whether they are located in or
>outside Turkey. The conference is open to a variety of approaches and
>themes as long as they deal with culture and space, and are pertinent to
>the central focus of the Symposium.

>-         Rural/Urban Space

>-         Environment/Nature and Space

>-         Spaces of production and consumption

>-         Politics and Space
>-         Creativity and Space
>-         Gender, sexuality and space
>-         Design and culture
>-         Virtual spaces
>-         Technology, cultue and space
>-         The identity of space/The space of identity
>-         Space and Discourse

>Proposals to be submitted for the Symposium may be in the form of (a)
>individual paper presentations, (b) pre-organized panels consisting of 3
>to 4 individual presentations, (c) poster sessions, (d) exhibitions, or
>(e) workshops.  Also expected are five keywords that relate to the
>proposal, as well as a short CV and contact address for each applicant.

>Abstracts for individual paper presentations should be no longer than 200
>words. Proposals for panels should include individual abstracts in
>addition to an abstract for the overall panel, and CVs of Chairs and
>Discussants. Proposals for poster sessions, exhibitions and workshops
>should also include CVs and contact addresses.
