/Transmedia Musics: Music Across Media/

The University of Leicester, IDeoGRAMS and /The Soundtrack/ invite all interested to attend this one-day conference examining the use and implications of music across media and the interrelationships between transmediality and musical adaptive processes. The day includes diverse talks from:

·John Harvey (Aberystwyth University) ‘Image and Inscription’: Sonification as an Interpretive Methodology in Biblical Textual and Visual Study’

·Richard Farmer (UEA) ‘Snap, Crackle and Rock? Pop Music and Television Advertising in the 1960s’

·Andrew Melrose (University of Winchester) ‘Product, Protest and Adscititious Placement: Writing Lyrical Protest Songs for film and TV’

·Armelle Blin-Rolland (Bangor University) ‘Synchronising Possibilities and Potentialities between Image and Music in Sound Comics’

·Paola Brembilla (Università di Bologna) ‘More Than a Soundtrack. The Role of Music in the /Nashville /World-Building’

·Marie-Claude Codsi (University of Edinburgh) ‘/The Hunger Games/ and transmedia promotion: how branding helped strengthen the music’s meaning’

·Rosemary Deller (LSE) ‘Straining to Hear: The Ethics of the Unavailable in Matthew Herbert’s One Pig’

·Teresa Forde (University of Derby) ‘From ‘Kirby Dreamland’ to ‘Maquisard’: Aural Attraction, Videogame Aesthetics and a Mittel-European Soundtrack in The Grand Budapest Hotel’

There is a small attendance fee for those attending but not presenting (simply to cover refreshments costs at breaks) of £5 payable on the door. Lunch will be attendees own responsibility but we will make reservations is needed at one or more eateries (this will be clear on the booking form as a series of ‘free ticket’ options).

The conference will start with Registration at 9.30 and end at 17.30.

·Led by Anna Claydon (University of Leicester) we begin the day by discussing what it is we mean by transmedia music(s) and how analysing music within the frame of transmedia theories helps develop and articulate new ways of thinking about how music functions across texts, genres and media.
